FORT LEE, N.J. -- Antoinette "Toni Ann" Picheo -- a Fort Lee resident, formerly of Nutley -- died on Sunday, Jan. 29. She was 89.
Born in Brooklyn, Picheo Toni Ann earned two master's degrees, from Fairleigh Dickinson University and Columbia University. She was a third-grade teacher in Jersey City and was part of the Child Study Team, before she retired. She was a member of the New Jersey Education Association.
Along with her granddaughter Suzanne, she facilitated the opening of a Huntington Learning Center in Englewood.
Picheo is survived by her daughter, Ann Lustberg and her husband Jay of Hasbrouck Heights; grandchildren Suzanne Cowan and her husband Scott, David Lustberg and his wife Debra, and Wayne Lustberg and his wife Sara; and great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Maya, Kai, Sierra, Eli and Aiden.
She was preceded by her son, William Malgady, and her parents, Giovanni and Ida Picheo.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Costa Memorial Home, 170 Central Ave., in Hasbrouck Heights. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home, followed by entombment at George Washington Memorial Park, in Paramus.
